Transpersonal Art Therapy

The owl is often considered to symbolise a deep connection with wisdom and intuitive knowledge, the ability to see the truth. She is one who offers the necessary guidance to deeply explore the unknown aspects of ourselves and connect with the magic of life. She is a bringer of change and expansion whilst offering protection. White is the colour of wholeness, completeness, innocence and safety.


What is Transpersonal Art Therapy?

Transpersonal art therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach which utilises the art making process and carefully selected art mediums to encourage creative self expression. The art making is the tool we use to help the client work through personal difficulties in order to improve emotional, spiritual and physical well being. This therapeutic art process provides a language that comes from within, connecting to our unconscious mind, speaking to us through symbols and metaphors so we may gain insights, self-understanding and new perspectives. It allows us to access, express and explore our inner experience of feelings, perceptions and imagination. Connecting to this inner wisdom, the source of creativity which resides within all of us, is often an empowering process through which our capacity to heal is awakened. Since it is the creative process itself that matters, not the artistic outcome, there are no special artistic skills or abilities required for a person to engage in and benefit from art therapy.

Transpersonal means going beyond our ordinary everyday self and perceptions, beyond our 'personas'. Transpersonal psychology includes our soul alongside our minds and bodies as an essential dimension of our being. This spiritual dimension, our connectedness to something larger than our small self, is considered significant in our quest to find purpose and meaning for our life. Transpersonal art therapy includes the use of guided meditation or visualisation, symbolism, dreams, archetypes, storytelling, poetry, creative writing, music, movement, rhythm and ritual.

I believe that we all have an innate capacity to heal and that deep inside we are already whole. I am passionate about supporting people in connecting to their inner wisdom and uncovering their true Self, so that they may live a life of connectedness, meaning, creativity, vitality, joy and purpose. I am here to meet you where you are, to provide the safe environment and the support you need for your unique journey within so that together we can discover how you may live the wholehearted life that is your birthright.
